Commonly patients will complain of wisdom teeth growing at awkward angles making it uncomfortable to chew and can sometimes become infected. These wisdom teeth are likely impacted and will require a surgical approach to ensure safe removal of the tooth and for optimal healing of the area. A surgical approach can also help when teeth are heavily broken down, leaving only a small amount of visible tooth left in the mouth.
