How does it work?
Contrary to popular belief, whitening does not weaken enamel!
Home teeth whitening is where you apply the special teeth whitening gel into a bespoke gum shield or ‘tray’ and wear it overnight for 2-4 weeks.
Our highly skilled dentists will prescribe a concentration of whitening gel that is suitable for you. The active ingredient is carbamide peroxide, and at sufficient concentrations the gel will gradually whiten the teeth over a 2-4week period, giving you a fantastic new smile!
Am I suitable?
Whitening will only work on natural teeth. It does not work on fillings, crowns or veneers. Our experienced dentists will make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy enough to undergo teeth whitening.
Are there any side effects?
In a small number of cases, patients find that their teeth become sensitive – this is transient and goes away after finishing the treatment. If necessary, a desensitising agent may be applied by your dentist to help. Other side effects include sore gums, sore throat or tiny white patches on your gum. These side effects are kept to a minimum through good adherence to instructions given to you by your dentist.
How quickly can I get this done?
We will make your custom trays in our dedicated, whitening laboratory within 1 week (sometimes sooner if we are on a tight schedule!). Once we have checked the fit of your custom trays, your whitening journey begins! We will show you how to insert the whitening gel into the trays, as well as how to look after them. You may notice results in as little as 3 days, but we recommend you complete the full treatment for long-lasting results!
